The cottage has a long and varied history. It was used as the original school house until the school itself was built at the top of the village, then it was home to various people including the local blacksmith who worked in the Smithy opposite.
His daughters lived on in the house for many years, and are remembered by today's 'older generation' for selling sweets from the cottage.
Despite being modernised several years back, the Cottage has retained many of its original features.
It has two oak beamed bedrooms and a central lounge but now has all the latest conveniences for your stay, including a more modern bathroom and an up-to-date kitchen, which have been added to the rear of the property.

We are four miles from the Lorton village shop, and eight from the town of Cockermouth where there are a full range of shops and supermarkets.
