Oak Bank Cottage - Loweswater

Peace and quiet, and the chance to unwind.

The Cottage, and the view up the Buttermere Valley
Oak Bank Cottage, Loweswater, Cumbria.

Oak Bank is one of the old, established farms of the valley.  The farm is currently leased out for grazing

and with the passing of Dick and Ina Bell, the buildings are now quieter than in their heyday.

The main house is now owned and lived in by his daughter and her family.

Oak Bank Cottage is attached to the rear of the farm, and is accessed by their side cobbled farm driveway.

Views east, from the front door, and over the neighbouring wall,

include this fine view of Whiteside Fell, in the Lorton Valley.

The cottage is a large, traditional farm home, with all basic amenities including TV and microwave cooker.

It has oil fired central heating, and an open coal fire to add a touch of homeliness on cooler evenings.

Off the main lounge is a second sitting room, should you want to escape further.

.

The old farmhouse kitchen has all the essentials for self catering.

It has a fridge, microwave and cooker, and all crockery and cutlery. The old beamed ceiling give this room a traditional feel,

and the drier over the central heating boiler gives you plenty of space to dry clothes, should it be necessary.

Low Fell can be seen from the rear window.

.

Upstairs has three deceptively large bedrooms.

The accommodation has one main double room, a second double room with a single bed incorporated,

and a third bedroom with two more single beds plus the cot. A total of seven main beds.
