With family arriving at lunchtime on Saturday the weather took a turn for the worse . . . typical !

Still there's no point in sitting inside and so after lunch we put on water resistant clothing and headed out on a first small walk.

While the whole crowd (of five and two dogs) assembled in the garden . . . there was the chance for a few photos.

This was the view and the weather forecast . . . low cloud, possible rain, cooler.

Luke was (made) ready first and we waited in the garden while the others locked up the house.

Big scary dog Dylan on the stone . . .
. . . I want to do that suggests the two year old.
. . . Now who's 'King of the Castle'.

Stepping out on a new adventure . . .
Stile-ish Photography.

Rhian, Gareth, Luke and Ann on the way down to Crummock Water.

As the afternoon progressed  the weather did improve.  The clouds lifted a little and the fells became more distinct.

Relaxing on the fallen pines down at the small beach . . . with Mum and Nana.

Dougal gets a chance to be centre stage . . . with a backdrop of snow covered Mount Fugi . . . I mean cloud topped Grasmoor.

Shift up you two . . . let's add some colour to the picture.

Dougal is pushed to one side, Dylan is not sure of the drop to the water behind him . . . and Luke stands tall.

The bracket mushrooms have withered even further since our visits during the week . . . this was it on the 28th July.

The Bracket fungus looked so new on the 18th.
. . . it was starting to die back by the 22nd.

We crossed the fields back to the cottage and Luke was intrigued by the sheep of course.

Cathy and Alexander arrived late that night . . . so next day she and I repeated the walk but with four dogs.

Lunch in the garden with the "emergency chairs and table".

The weather was still overcast, very humid but we had sunny intervals . . . hence the sunshade.

With the warmth of the day it was suggested that we went for a walk to Harry's Pool and all have a swim.

Come on in . . . the water's fine !
Well Pop . . . it could be warmer !

To be fair, it has been delightfully warm, but the recent rain has chilled the river and made it a slightly more peaty colour.

I can tell folk don't think it is as warm as suggested.

Luke has his little wet suit on so I take him for a float in the pool.

Rhian's entrance into the water was, shall we say, a little more dramatic than others . . . much to everyone's amusement.

" Wave to mum "
Crossing back to open arms on the other bank.

Family photo of Gareth Luke and Rhian.

He seems more interested in the camera so he can't be that cold after all.

Time to get changed . . .

Alexander likewise . . . but he overbalances on the tussocky ground
. . . and ends up with no towel and only one leg in his briefs !

I step up and retrieve his towel

. . . and his teenage pride.

Time to make our way home.

Luke and I walk down the forest track.

The assembled multitude  . . . photographed by Gareth of course.
