Rounding off the photos from the week where Cathy and the boys have taken full advantage of the sunny weather and of the high fells.

Several celebrations also fall into place this week and a celebratory meal at the Kirkstile end their holiday rather nicely.

As well as out walking with her parents and sons this week, Cathy branched out on a walk with family friend, Paul Chesh on Tuesday.

She headed for Honister, uncertain of which fells Paul had in mind for their walk that day.

Cathy and Paul ended up

enjoying lunch on Great Gable

overlooking the Wasdale Valley.

The photo is taken from

a viewpoint near Westmorland Cairn.

These were the phone pictures

they posted back that day.

Her week included local walks too . . . this one needs no introduction.

On the way to the tree they appeared to do a neat balancing trick, walking on the very edge of the shadow !

A gentle walk to wind down after her big day on Great Gable.

The view that evening was about as good as it gets.

On Thursday Cathy and Matt headed up one of Lakeland's big three, the 3,118 ft summit of Helvellyn.

Parking at Swirls car park, they headed up the Brown Cove Crag path and made the summit in an hour and a half.

This was the view ahead on the way up to Helvellyn Lower Man.

Red Tarn below and Ullswater in the distance, on this summit photo from Helvellyn.

Hazy views this Thursday morning

but they were up before the heat of the day.

This picture is of Cathy,

the view behind being the distant

Coniston Fells with Steel Fell,

the shadowy summit in the valley below.

It was sunny but with a cold breeze . . . hence the hat !

Nethermost and Dollywagon were ticked off

before Cathy and Matt completed a low level return.

During the day we received a delivery to Loweswater.

To be technically correct, Ann received a delivery

to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary.

Who said romance is dead !

Go to the back of the class.

Here's to the next forty . . .

but it will have to be with extreme good fortune

or with the aid of medicines

as yet undiscovered.

The Official Photo . . . as released by the Palace.

That evening we adjourned to the Kirkstile to celebrate the event.

We were joined by Ann's college friend Pat, who in fact has known Ann longer than I have.

She is in the Lakes for a few days, staying at her chalet close to Cockermouth.

Pat had already featured in Jenna's week a few days before.

Here they were celebrating Jenna's birthday with a glass of bubbly in Derbyshire.

Our other daughter, Paula was also there and sent us a phone pic . . .
. . . "Sorry, can't join in the fun" . . . Gareth sent his regards from work !

All in all, a busy anniversary week . . . and a good one.

Technical note: Pictures taken with whatever recording device was to hand at the time.

Resized in Photoshop, and built up on a Dreamweaver web builder.

This site best viewed with . . . a busy week full of people.
