Gunnerdale Dougal

It's been a busy few days and many photos have been taken since Dougal arrived,

so here we present an abridged collection of pictures from the first two weeks.

My apologies if they are out of order or if anyone is missing.

Dougal starts on his adventures to meet the big outside world.

No, we're not sending him away in the van . . . just making a start by meeting Steve our postman.

A quick trip into town for the new puppy.

and his first ride in the big-dog's-place in the car.

He will be meeting the vet and having his first puppy check-up today.

He looks really small in the picture on the left until he stands up !

Harry was rather aloof when Dylan arrived four years ago and we don't remember him properly interacting with Dylan for about a week.

This time, Dylan (who is younger and closer in age to Dougal) enjoys a game so was eager to play after just a day or so.

The tables have turned . . .
. . . Dylan is now the  big one being slept on !

Just a matter of finding the best angle.

We've had loads of visitors recently . . . is that coincidence ?

However Hilton and Vanessa have come for a few days, a visit planned some time back.

At nine weeks Dougal's a strong puppy . . . but still appreciates a cuddle . . . although there's a lot more growing still to do to reach Dylan's size.

Hilton and Dylan enjoying a quieter moment.

The old snake toy seems to be holding up under the strain.

It's great to see them playing together.

It's an eat . . . play . . . sleep . . . routine at present.

Puppy or Meerkat ?
Awake again for Tony.

Tony and Hilary are staying locally for a holiday and have called in for a chat and a puppy cuddle.

Sophie and Dougal
and Chris's turn for a cuddle.

If it's Gill then it must be Trevor plus 'Finlay of Borrowdale' . . . Dylan's best doggy mate.

Perhaps a triple photo in the garden ?

Getting two dogs to settle is difficult enough . . . three is impossible today.

They just want to play.

Dougal tries hard to keep up with the antics of the two older dogs.

On a quieter moment in the garden . . .
. . . he's more prepared to be photographed.

Down in the paddock where the flowers and hopefully little puppies will grow.

Is that a bit of leaf in his mouth . . . that won't do the plant any good.

He's discovered the pond (but fortunately didn't dive in).
Wet paws need drying and warming up ?

You're pointing that camera thing at me again !

Brian and Heather came over from across the road . . .
. . . taking turns to cuddle or pat each dog.

Our neighbour Jonathon called in briefly . . .
. . . as did a friend and new Cockermouth resident Diana.

A photo together one evening.

. . . and one on his own.

Playing tug with the old rope toy next day.
Dougal takes the direct approach.

Attack is the best form of defence . . .
. . . until the big dog eats you up !

Only joking . . . he spat him out in time for Ian's visit.

Puppies are full on at times . . . but then they run out of energy.

Toys for him to chose when he wakes up.

He's growing in his sleep I'm sure.

After the wariness and surprise of their first meeting . . .

. . . they are now the best of mates . . . Dougal and Uncle Dylan.
