A collection of pictures from this week as the April sunshine and showers are transforming the valley colours at last.

The grass is growing, the sun is out (in between the rain showers) and the gardening year comes round again.

Early one morning . . . well about eight-ish we had a temperature in the valley

where the mist was sitting low over the lake.

Zooming in as the top of Great Gable appears over the mist.

It gradually cleared as the heat of the sun evaporated the moisture.

After s late breakfast it was all over and a lovely day was in prospect.

The warmth and the rain have made the colours start to shine.

Fresh tulips by the house.
Spring planting adds to last year's colours.

The soft fruit is starting to flower . . .
. . . and the spinach thrives in the warmer weather.

Forecasting possible frost tonight so I've covered the early planted beans.

The rest can go out when the danger of frost is past . . .

difficult to predict as I lost about a dozen beans last year from a sudden drop in temperature.

Dog walks are slow and methodical . . . but Harry gets there, doing a daily hour or so and still enjoying being out.

Big weekend for our neighbours, Alison and Jonathan, as their house is ready to be lived in.

Carpets fitted, furniture delivered and tidying up done this week . . . and a bike ride for them on their first full day in residence.

The event . . . the Team Townend Event starts and ends from our local village hall.

Some evenings have been a delight . . . Oak Cottage and Grasmoor.

Gillerthwaite and sunshine on Rannerdale.

Mellbreak with evening light on the local Scots pines.

Put them all together and you get the picture.

Spring colours are here, gardening is in full swing, the local TT Event has come round again . . . that was a quick year !
