An enjoyable morning and the wedding ceremony completed, it was time to party !

Firstly the Wedding Breakfast, followed by the official photos,

and then later . . while the night was yet young . . . the tables were cleared back and the dancing commenced.

The function suite

was beautifully decorated for the day.

Gareth and Rhian had worked hard

including printing the seating plans for everyone.

In front were two wedding photos

of ours and Rob and Viv's wedding.

The most noticeable difference

was the hair styles !

Everyone stands and applauds. . .
. . . as the " the new Mr and Mrs Hiley " arrive.

Serious faces as we were served starters and main course.

The view from top table.

The function suite incorporated superb wooden beams and the whole room looked really attractive.

A quick run round the tables between courses so as to get a photo of most people.

This first table included both of Rhian's grandparents.

Paula and Al had Tom, Abi and our Swansea friends, Gill, Jackie and Sandra on their table.

Rhian's brother Gareth on the left plus more Owen family.

The friends table towards the middle of the room.

Cathy and Richard, their boys and our Nottingham friends, Pat and Mike.

More lads and lasses . . . many recognisable from the stag weekend.

Rhian talks to the youngsters at the table of her best friends from Carmarthen.

Rob here with his brother and wider family.

Before desserts were served . . . it was time for top table to do some work.

Rob started the proceedings with his speech,

extolling the virtues of his daughter and welcoming Gareth to their family.

Dee stood and talked of her close friend Gareth, how she was honoured to be "Best Man",

how she enjoyed the Stag Weekend with Gareth, her partner Dave (right), myself and all the other lads.

She also mentioned one or two slightly embarrassing things that she had seen Gareth do in the time they have known each other.

It was then my turn to speak . . . conventions cast aside . . . for a 'Father of the Groom' speech.

It went down so well that I got a standing ovation.

Believe that if you will . . . my daughter Jen (right) will tell you the full story if you ask her !

Gareth responded with his own words of thanks . . . a thoroughly good afternoon's entertainment.

After desserts and coffee it was time for one last ceremony . . .

Okay Rhian, how do we both hold the same knife at the same time ?
No problem . . . as a partnership they work it out.

- - - o o o - - -

After the meal was over the sunshine, which had been a bit scarce at times,

thankfully returned in time for the outdoor photos.

"All the ladies please"

. . . you'll have to ask Gareth and Rhian for the official photo of all the men.

Our family grows to five . . . plus Al and Richard and the seven grandchildren of course.

Alexander and Abi with Gareth and Rhian.

Gareth, Rhian, their niece and 4 out of 5 nephews on our side of the family.

Sam, Matt, Alexander, Abi and Tom.

The Owen family photo . . . Gareth, Ffion, Rhian, Gareth, Viv and Rob.

Those not in the official photos at that time, waited to the side.

Myself, Jackie, and Gill sit this one out.

A second photo adds Ann to our little group . . . Sandra doing the honours with our camera.

Jen with Richard,

plus his camera which supplied a few of the shots that I couldn't take . . . thanks Richard.

Fun and games as the confetti was thrown . . .

Fortunately the wind wasn't too strong . . . though some did seem to miss the target.

Gareth and Rhian wanted a few photos

in the wild flower garden

at the bottom of the hotel grounds.

True to form the Best Woman had a lift across.

Dee said it was because the stone path

was difficult in high heels.

That's the second time she's  been carried in six weeks !

The immediate wedding party, including Bridesmaids and Ushers.

The ladies stroll around to capture the dresses on film.
They were concentrating on the professional camera, not mine.

Another group photo . . .

. . . as the lady photographer set up another shot.

Wedding over . . . the Best Woman is now redundant . . . what shall we do with her ?

Thankfully she wasn't thrown in the deep end . . . the photo by the pool was of other things.

Hold your cursor over the picture to see how the Ushers turn their neat ankles.

The time was flying by and soon it was time to greet evening guests . . .

. . . and for Gareth and Rhian to have the first dance.

After a short while the floor was filled with the other guests.

Along with a disco, they had also organised a live band.

They played a selection of rock and swing band music.

Principle trombonist was no other than 'Father of the Bride' Rob.

Everyone was having a great time . . . here Sandra's pointing at Ann with the camera.

It was great to hear, watch and dance to the live music.

Rhian and I take to the floor for a rock and roll number . . .
. . . not the easiest with Rhian in a wedding dress, but we managed.

In the background Gareth and Rhian had organised a photo-booth where you guessed it . . . you could have silly photos taken.

The camera in the photo-booth takes 4 pictures in 30 seconds . . .
. . . you have to try and change costumes in between pictures !
Al, Abi and Tom Bullock
Tommy Cooper - Lulu - Ziggy - Chicken head

The night continued . . . and so did the dancing.

Some dances were a little slower . . . which the camera appreciated.

Anyone know the moves of  " The Macarena " ?

Right click and open the link in another window to dance along with the music.

Hold your cursor over the photo to see how well they do !

Dave, photo-booth picture in mouth, takes to the floor.

. . . and so the evening continued.

- - - o o o - - -

Next morning we headed home, taking a few items back to Gareth's house to save filling their car too full.

We realised that we hadn't walked any of the wonderful Gower beaches or paths while we were here . . . life had just been too busy,

. . . so we stopped off at Cefn Bryn's Broad Pool for a little photo shoot of our own.

The wider landscape.

Water lilies at the edge of the pool . . .

. . . and more out in the lake.

The road over the hill leads back to the hotel at Reynoldston.

Time for a quick cup of refreshing tea and a Welsh cake

and for Ann to have one last cuddle with Luke

before we have to head north once again.

We say our goodbyes for now . . .

till we return on holiday in the near future.

Yes . . . our Gower holiday cottage is already booked.

Technical note: Pictures taken with either Richard's Cannon SLR, Ann's Panasonic Lumix TZ60 or my Panasonic Lumix Gx8 Camera.

Resized in Photoshop, and built up on a Dreamweaver web builder.

This site best viewed with . . . a big thank you to Hilton

who stayed back at our cottage while we were away and looked after the dogs.
