It's winter time and the forecast is poor . . . snow and high winds.

Usually I'm in work on nice days (totally not planned) but today I'm at home.

My turn to walk the dog . . . but tomorrow I'm in Keswick once more . . . what will the weather do ?

Snowdrops in the garden . . . as yet they haven't really been challenged by their namesake.

I take a walk over towards Loweswater.

This is looking back from High Nook towards The Long House / High Cross Farm, now a self catering establishment.

A slightly hazy view across the meadows due to snow in the air.

Grasmoor has a topping of cloud yet Mellbreak has sunshine, if only briefly.

A wider panorama down at the lake shore.

Harry samples the water . . .
. . . but is not tempted by the rope swings.

The yellow houses are the cluster of buildings known as Thrushbank.

The blue skies and sun have gone now and there's snow blowing in on the wind once more.

Time to be heading home.

Next day I leave early for work . . . so Ann has the camera.

Overnight snow has been added to with a short morning blizzard

and the fields and fells are covered with a thick winter blanket.

Our garden is no exception.

Dylan thinks it is magic !

At just one last week this is his first season of snow.

Harry, a veteran of these things, introduces a measure of calmness once more.

Snowdrops and Daffodils are blanketed in white.

. . . and so is the greenhouse.

Should we now call it The White House or will the Americans object ?

Old boots laid to rest.

Check out the hidden horseshoe and the full log store over the back.

I've managed a little sawing and chopping this week, believe it or not, in case it snowed !

Red berries in the snow.

The red phone box in the snow too.

On returning from work Ann and I call over to our neighbours to see their new puppy.

Ross and Sue have just collected a Gordon Setter pup just nine weeks old.

Her multiple pedigree kennel certificate had one name they thought they could live with . . .

Hold your cursor over the picture and give "Bree" a call.
