" Christmas Lights and Best Wishes 2012 "

Date : 25th December 2012.

from Loweswater, Cumbria, Uk.

May Ann and I wish you all the best Season's Greetings, have a great Christmas

and we hope you all have a good year ahead.

Many thanks to all those that helped us raise over £200 for Mountain Rescue again this year through the sale of our calendar.

A few photos from Keswick, Cockermouth and Loweswater this Christmas time.

A famous outdoor emporium in Keswick that keeps me off the streets for a few days each week.

A late lunch hour gives me chance to have a quick wonder about town . . .

Climate change . . . that would be the height of folly.
The market is in full swing by the Moot Hall.

A reasonable crowd enjoyed the market and the day

but visitor numbers are down this year due to many factors . . . one of which was the poor weather here and in the rest of Britain !

No such complaints on this day . . . it had been a glorious cold, clear and frosty.

Back in work, I sneak the camera in to record the changing light on Skiddaw as the afternoon progresses.

A montage of small photos
produces a Royal Portrait
I don't remember seeing an elephant in town ?

Fishers hosted a photo of the Queen in her Jubilee year this year.

It was made up photos of local Cumbrian scenes taken through the year and submitted by locals and visitors to the Keswick Jubilee committee.

No Queens Message from me but enjoy the photo.

The last of the sun catches the snow on Skiddaw and Skiddaw Little Man.

By the time I left work it was dark.

That giraffe is still there outside Treebee and Boulton's
The Christmas Tree in the Moot Hall Square

They are clearing away the market now.
An Angel at Christmas Time ~ very Necessary ~

The Pack Horse Inn in Pack Horse Court.

In Ye Olde Friars of Keswick . . .  a present for the man who has everything.

A new concept ~ a "Tablet" of chocolate . . .
. . . in Friar's Christmas window display.

The Skiddaw Hotel . . . where we had a great staff  'do' last Monday evening.

Keswick . . . " the adventure capital " has an extra set of mountains in the square . . . but not ones to climb !

The window display in Brysons . . .
. . . has a suitably wintery feeling.

Say no more . . .

Mad about dogs !

The Rotary Club " Tree of Light "
Sunnyside entrance . . . suitably bright in its display.

" Merry Christmas Everyone " . . . is the message this year.

Time to be away home, dodging the traffic up at Station Road.

Our other local display can be found at Cockermouth Town Centre.

Evening rush hour for shoppers and those returning home.

The Trout Hotel has a modernistic wavy light display around the riverside lawn.

The Mayo Statue in Main Street.

Santa Claus is coming to town.
No presents under the tree here though.

Time to be turning right . . . once I've walked back to the car.

Sorry . . . it looks like snow on our cottage. . . but it is in fact " mild precipitation " on the cards for Christmas this year.

It has been another busy year culminating with visits from, and visits to see our children and grand children in December.

[ I'm still taller than half of them, but who knows whether that will be the case when they all grow up to be teenagers ]

We'll leave the final picture to our faithful hounds . . . Harry and Bethan.

Technical note: Pictures taken with either Ann's Canon Sureshot SX220, my Canon G10 or 1100D SLR digital cameras.

Resized in Photoshop, and built up on a Dreamweaver web builder.

This site best viewed with . . . a roaring log fire and a cup of good cheer !
