The clear weather of late has given us the opportunity to catch a good sighting of the evening skies

and in particular the conjunction of three celestial bodies . . . four if you include mine !

Tonight's the night:

This sky map shows the positions of Venus, Jupiter and the moon

during spectacular conjunction of the three objects tonight

This was the view from our garden.

The phone box is obvious . . . the little light is from the window of our neighbouring property, Rose Cottage.

The ambient light is illuminating the rest of the moon's surface even though the majority of it should be in darkness.

The coloured section on the right is the end wall of the house by the way . . . the photo was based on a ten second exposure.

Movement of the moon over time . . .
. . . the Moon crossing the skies from early to late in the evening.

This was my clearest picture of the moon . . . passing alongside the planet Venus.

I'm no star gazer or expert . . . but it was a very interesting time to study the sky.
