Crummock water from Rannerdale.

Jo was planning to leave in the middle of the afternoon so a short walk was needed today.

We choose a local favourite, Rannerdale Knotts. A small fell with great views up and down the valley.

We climb up the first part of the fell side, leaving our car down there in the small car park at the base of the crags.

It is a short, steep ascent

but looking behind us we can see that the rain storm is fast approaching from the direction of the Lorton Valley.

Further up the climb the rain and strong winds ease off.

Loweswater can now be seen in the distance.

Jo admires the view.

Harry and Bethan prefer to indulge in a spot of play fighting but Jodie does not want to join in !

Best not to play fight just at this point please !
Buttermere now in view.

It's a breezy sort of day !

Harry and Bethan have problems controlling their ears in the wind !

Hold your cursor over the picture to see what I mean.

The poor weather clears away leaving us with a sunnier view of Crummock and Loweswater.

Mellbreak is to the left with Low Fell at the far end.

Jo and Jodie leave the northern viewpoint to join me on the summit.

Grasmoor has a cloudy hat . . .

but Whiteless Pike is free from cloud.

Looking towards the southern summit of Rannerdale Knotts.

Robinson is hidden by cloud, High Snockrigg is the clear fell in the middle of this photo.

Fleetwith Pike with Honister Crag behind Buttermere, Haystacks is to the right.

Jodie looking very regal above Rannerdale Valley.

Two sides of Jodie . . . front view seated . . .
. . . rear view investigating a badger hole on our descent !

Ground zero . . back at the lake Bethan and Harry tussle over a discarded oven glove !
