My travel companions as we start the first ascent.

Roger was at work today so Harry, Bethan and myself joined John and Jo and their dogs for a figure of eight climb of two lower fells near Wythop Mill.

I was to be in charge of the 'family jewels', the 'posh' camera as the Ixus has bitten the dust.

Jo and Jodie survey our ascent path which we took from the cars parked near St Margaret's Church,Wythop up to this point.

Bassenthwaite Lake is behind.

Stomachs in - chests out on Sale summit !

A ray of sun bursts through as we descend towards Dodd Crag - a good omen ?

Something has attracted Jodie's attention.

Our next objective, Ling Fell is the rounded fell behind Jodie.

John and the five dogs enjoy a munch at the gate leaving the Sale Fell path below Eskin farm.

John waits for his lady friends at the gate . . .
. . . then starts the ascent up the bridle path up Ling Fell.

Sale Fell behind us as we make our way upwards.

Ling Fell summit with Skiddaw behind, it's head just in the clouds.

John and Jo make their way through the heather, which is now past it's best, down towards Sale Fell again.

Our route will take us back up the steep wall seen in the middle of the photo and over to the cars on the other side.

Boats ply their way across Bass Lake.

Myself with Harry, Bethan and Polly. Binsey is the rounded fell in the distance.
