Date & Time: 24th May 2006. 6 pm start. ( NY 163 184 )

Location of Start : Hawes Point car park adjacent to Crummock Water, Cumbria, Uk.

Places visited : Rannerdale Valley up to the Squat Beck bridge and back.

Walk details : 1.5 mls, negligible ascent.

Walked with : Ann and the dogs.

Weather : Overcast with a slight breeze more sunny periods than the afternoon.

National Trust sign on the Rannerdale valley gate.

Ann had not seen the valley recently as she was not with me when I visited with Helmut after the Gable walk.

She was interested to see the bluebells too, and the dogs needed an evening walk, so a second visit of the day seemed like a good idea.

The gate into the valley.
A vibrant spread of colour.

Looking across the meadow and up to Whiteless Pike.

Sunshine on the foreground and a Whitethorn Tree, contrasting with the shadow behind.

The flowers on the hillside have now come into bloom
Close up and a lower viewpoint.

The bluebells even extend up into the top fields under the open fell, but not beyond the out-take wall.

A change of sun and a slight change of hue, Harry carefully keeping to the pathway.

Looking back with a slightly wider perspective.

The flowers are later this year than last due to the recent cold weather and consequent late Spring,

but now they are out, they have provided another superb show of colour.
