Oak Cottage - Loweswater

Retreat to the quiet of the Western Lakes

The Cottage, and the view up the Buttermere Valley
Oak Cottage, Loweswater.

Tuesday December 17th,

A fine sunny day with snow on the tops.

.

Despite the building work, Holly found time to sit about in the garden and enjoy the view.

Gable has a fine white mantle of snow, with Haystacks providing the lower contrast foreground.

Time for a trip through the western Lakes, buying (and selling) bits and pieces.

Buying lights, flooring and food. Selling, and delivering, the old dishwasher. Helps pay the bills !!

Midday sunshine. What a great day to be out.

.

Distant views of Skiddaw and Grisedale Pike from the Lamplough Road into Cockermouth.

.

Cockermouth Town. The Jennings Brewery (steam from their chimney) the Church, and Skiddaw behind.

Skiddaw, from the back road between Bothel and Keswick, before turning off for Isel.

Another view, from the bridge over the Derwent, halfway between Bass Lake and Cockermouth.

Four thirty, and the evening light is fading fast.

Sunset from the Lorton Valley.
